Not long ago, I recounted my stressful experience with the new computer I’ve bought in July. Just when I thought I have to live with this cranky PC for the next few years, I received an email from the seller about 2 week ago (before my blog post was published) proposing to replace some of the computer parts with those from another maker. The replacements I’ve done in the last few times have all been parts from the same manufacturer. Since anything will most likely be better than what I’ve now, I said yes right away.

Just last week, almost all the major parts — the CPU, motherboard, memory and power supply — were swapped and the operating system, Windows 7, was reinstalled. After going through another re-installation of the applications I usually use for the n^th time (I’ve lost count), I’ve not encountered another system freeze or blue screen of death (BSOD) in the last 7 days. That’s a major breakthrough since before this, I’ve to grapple with cryptic BSOD at least once a day. Hooray! I was ecstatic! My nightmare was finally over! I can finally use my computer without worrying when it will crash on me. Thank you, Mr Seller, for putting things right!

Now with a working computer, I can finally get some real work done and even look for new desktop wallpapers to dress up my new display. I’ve been using a 17″ monitor for more than 5 years and I’m glad that now it has a younger, but bigger 23″ companion.
