Before moving from my previous eighth story flat to the current twenty-story apartment, I imagined living so high up will raise me above all noise and give me peace and quiet. Boy, was I wrong!
Little did I know that the noise pollution at 200 plus feet above ground level is actually worse than living on lower floors.
Without nearby buildings to block and absorb environmental noise, the combination of sounds from the high way, building construction and other noise makers (like honking by inconsiderate car owners) rise up and amalgamate at higher floors, creating a constant, irritating din.
I guess that’s the price I have to pay for convenient living. My current location is literally a stone’s throw away from the subway and public amenities are within walking distance. These advantages are too good for me to give up.
So to manage the noise problem, I take refuge in the soothing effect of the sounds of nature. These sounds from nature, especially rain, ocean waves and songs of birds, never fail to calm me down when I’m feeling anxious or impatient.
For this article, I have put together a list, comprising different types of music made by Mother Earth. Hopefully, you will find this list handy when you are looking for relaxing natural ambient sounds for relaxation, meditation, visualization, or just to get away from it all.

Living in a tower block would be a nightmare for me. Perhaps if it had good views I could withstand it. I would love to live in the mountains or by the sea. Unfortunately that is not possible at the moment, so music + imagination comes a close second.
Hi Tony, Yes, living in the city can be a nightmare sometimes. But every life situation brings its unique set of pros and cons. So I’ve learned to enjoy the advantages while they last and manage the not-so-good aspects, until nature changes its course again. Thanks for dropping by.
