Enhance Healing with Native American Flute Music
Let the healing sounds of native American flute bring you peace and serenity for your relaxation, meditation, yoga or massage
Have you heard music that seems to be able to transport you to serene, peaceful lands as if by magic? I am sure you have. Marina Raye, who plays the native American flute, is one of those musicians who creates melodies that have that magical effect. And it is not difficult to know why.
Born in Africa but now residing in America, Marina imbues her notes with qualities that come straight from her heart. She usually only writes the first few notes of each piece and let her muse takes over the rest. The result is a living tune that opens and soothes the heart of the listener at the same time.
I enjoy listening to her music whenever I need creative inspirations and ideas. Her deeply relaxing tunes are also used by many people for relaxation, meditation, healing, guided imagery, creative visualization, yoga, and massage. No wonder!
Take for instance her album, Being Peace. You will find Marina’s native flute music working beautifully with Ron Clearfield’s deep, rich sound of cello. The serenity and peace that stream effortlessly from the music keep one firmly grounded in the immediacy of the present moment, while feeling the unconditional healing energy of Mother Nature.
The sounds of nature, such as the breaking of ocean waves against the shore, songs of chirping birds and even the croaking of frogs, appear frequently in her albums and they are usually recorded by her personally. The effect is like a gentle call that awakens the listeners’ primal need to return to nature.

In another album Liquid Silk, you hear soulful notes flowing smoothly against a backdrop of birds, crickets and running water. You can almost see an ancient forest with lush dense foliage, and brightly colored creatures of all sizes appearing before your very eyes. Sitting by the riverside, you are frolicking with the fishes and completely immersed in this magical forest. If my heart could sing, perhaps this is one of the tunes it might hum.
Besides expressing the love for Mother Earth through her original compositions, Marina also shows her love for nature in her life. She and her husband, Charlie Oakwind who handcrafts her flutes, live in the mountains of Western North Carolina in a home that respects the forces of nature. Their home is built using sustainable, nontoxic materials and it harnesses the power of the sun and wind for energies.
