Carnival of Healing #229: Healing Inspirations
Healing doesn't always have to involve drugs. Here are some medication-free ways to end your pain
The Carnival of Healing is back! For those who are not familiar with the carnival, it is a monthly selection of blog articles on healing, holistic health, wellness, spirituality and self-empowerment.
Each month, the Carnival of Healing is hosted by a different website and every blogger is welcome to join in the fun! If you’re interested to be part of the carnival, either as an article contributor or as a host, do check out the main page of the carnival, which is founded by Reiki healer Phylameana.
Now back to this month’s issue. This is a short and sweet edition. I’ve picked five great articles that focused on different types of healing for your reading pleasure. I hope they will be a source of inspiration for you, especially if you’re caught in the midst of a turbulent time.
So let the healing begin!
Healing in Nature
-
It’s easy for urbanites to lost touch with nature. Living deep in the concrete jungle, the only hints of nature are the trees and shrubs that cover the walkways and the pots of plants that decorate our sealed windows.
But let’s not forget that nature is a vital source of healing and regeneration which we cannot do without, especially light from the sun. An indispensable source of energy for plants, humans also need sunlight for vitamin D synthesis and for our overall well-being. And as Laura Grace Weldon has written in her article Epidemic of Nearsightedness Has Startling Cause, natural light may even play a part in keeping our kids’ eyesight intact. Although the link is fuzzy, what’s clear is taking regular time out in nature with your family, young and old, is a smart way to keep you and loved ones healthy!
Healing with Your Breaths
-
Who would have thought that healing can be as simple as breathing mindfully and naturally? No matter what may be troubling your body, mind and soul, breathing can help to calm you down and focus your mind so that you can better tackle your problems. Ancient arts like meditation and yoga have long emphasized the importance of breathing to one’s health. In the article Sukha Pranayama: Yoga for Spiritual Awakening, P.J. Mazumdar introduces us to a form of yoga called Sukha Pranayama which can be a useful tool to help you beat stress and raise your happiness index.
Healing Through Self-Introspection
-
In the parable shared by Chris, About A Clever Priest and A Shallow Monk, we read of a monk who carries a mirror with him wherever he goes. But if you use the mirror the way he did, you might find yourself using it on yourself most of the time. Because we are often the source of our own unhappiness.
Beliefs shape the way we perceive our reality and play an important role in determining how often we experience happiness. Without removing deep-seated and life-limiting beliefs, we’re like a mouse running in a wheel — trapped in a vicious cycle that repeats the same thought patterns leading to our unhappiness time and again. I’ve recently wrote an article on how hidden beliefs can hold us back from getting what we really want in life. So I was thrilled when I received the article by Broderick Durisseau: Discovering Hidden Beliefs About Identity in which he recounted how he improved almost every aspect in his life by uncovering one faulty belief. An excellent testament to the tremendous control beliefs has over the way we live.
Spiritual Healing
-
There are some among us who are able to tap into the healing energies of spirits or higher beings to heal others. Although much controversy and skepticism surround this form of healing, those who have experienced it personally strongly believe in it. Read Sura’s account of her meeting with John of God, a spiritual healer in Abadiania, Brazil and find out why she exclaimed Where the ExtraOrdinary is Ordinary.
That’s it for this issue’s Carnival of Healing! I hope you’re inspired by the gems shared by the bloggers highlighted here. Last month, Rosanna C. Rogacion at Meandering Paths to Spirituality was our host. Next month, the Carnival of Healing will pitch its tent at Dee Savoy’s On a Mission from Goddess. Remember to submit your articles!
