Welcome, James! Thanks for sharing your experience. I find that staying in the present is a simple but life-changing way to focus on the thing I need to do now each time I torment myself in my own 'mind prison'. I hope you'll find it equally life-transforming too. I wish you all the best that you can be.

Thank you for this. Today I felt the "mind prison" I created for myself got the best of me. Everything today was going completely wrong. My past was not filled with sunshine, and I have never really felt happiness. I have been living in my past. But you are right, only now is important. Only now is what's real. Only now can change. The universe is far too big to worry about anything but NOW

Hi Trevor, Thanks for penning your thoughts. You're not alone. Many of us were also raised in similar fashion. I recalled feeling liberated, like a bird being pointed to the door which was never closed, when I first read about the 'option' of living in the present instead of the past. Welcome to the present, welcome to a new beginning.

I like the tips here a lot. Sadly though the way I was raised was to always consider consaquences from my past and all prior actions, but living in the now instead of the past is an idea that has always intrigued me. Thank you

Hi JD,

Thanks for dropping by. Your suggestion is brilliant. Starting each day anew definitely helps.

However, most people may find it difficult because they carry over their worries, anger, arguments and discontentment from yesterday, as well as deeply ingrained ideas, concepts, and social conditioning that are they are even aware of.

That's when meditation comes in to help one to stay in the present, be aware of their thoughts and let go of them if necessary.

I'm a fan of starting each new day from scratch. I like the surprise of it and it cultivates my curiosity.
